Stuart Bracey

National Off-Trade Sales

Stuart Bracey

Stuart graduated in the early nineties … during a recession; and with no where else to go but into wine retailing, he settled on a good stint with the leading retailer of the time, Oddbins! Taking a brief hiatus in his wine career (yes whatever next!) for a year when he went to work for a charitable organisation, he quickly found out how hard it was went back to the easier life of selling wine.

Following a brief second period at Oddbins, Stuart moved to venerable West Country traditional wine merchant, Avery's of Bristol to head up their retail sales, and traded with and tasted some of the world's greatest wines and founded his love affair with classic French wine which still exists today.

Fast forward to the Millennium celebrations, and it was during a slow drive back to Bristol from Devon, that the realisation dawned on him that having spent some wonderful years within wine retail he needed to get a 'proper' job in the wine trade! A spell at a northern based national wholesaler/importer started, selling French wines to the independent trade for six happy years before working with the national retailers.

Stuart met his partner Jean, who also works in the wine trade during this time and went on to have two wonderful children which has kept them both pretty busy.

Having embarked on the MW Course and passing a year, the realisation that studying at this level whilst balancing a career and children was not easy so he has put his studies to one side in the hope that he will go back to it.

When not working Stuart enjoys all the normal things us winy types enjoy….like good food, good wine, good company and travelling to foreign climates!
