This is the latest release from Thistledown, a collaboration between Giles Cooke, Fergal Tynan and Peter Leske, based in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Suilven is a beautifully packaged, sophisticated Chardonnay with potential for development, and this is its debut vintage.

Classical Australian Wines with a Celtic Twist

Thistledown wines was concieved in 2006 by An Englishman living in Scotland, an Irishman living in England and a German descendant working in Adelaide which makes for the beginnings of a joke, but the coming together of Giles, Fergal and Peter has formed the foundations of a producer with high ambitions. The thistle is an apt image for a producer that, for all its rugged exterior, makes wines that possess a delicacy, subtlety and beauty that constantly surprise.

With fruit sourced from amazing vineyard sites in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley & Langhorne Creek, Thistledown handcrafts small parcels of wine chosen for their soul as well as soil to produce small batch, hand-made wines.

Thistledown wines look to reflect the terroir by picking for optimal balance rather than power and by winemaking that is, wherever possible, hands off. They also choose to work with those who care for these great sites and amazing vineyard resources to ensure that all of their relationships are profitable ones - in the broadest sense of the word.
