Nyetimber, Sussex

When starting up in 1988, Nyetimber made it their aim to make premium sparkling wine that would rival Champagne.

With the same chalk soil as the northern French region and a similar climate, the classic Champagne varieties thrived in their West Sussex vineyard sites.

Now the largest vineyard in the UK, Nyetimber Estate has 438 acres under vine and is the only producer to make premium sparkling wine exclusively from estate grown fruit.

It's this control of every stage of the process, from the vineyards to the winemaking that sets the wines apart. The secret of their success lies in the fact that these are terroir driven wines and therefore the fundamentals of geology, soil and aspect are the principle factors in the meticulous selection of all vineyard sites.

Nyetimber have certainly achieved their goal, winning up to 65 awards since the maiden vintage in 1992.
