Zephyr, Marlborough

'If I had to choose just one Kiwi Sauvignon at the moment, it would be the harmonious, beautifully balanced, Zephyr Sauvignon Blanc" Tim Atkin, The Observer.

The Glover family vineyards, planted in 1985 alongside the meandering Opawa River, have inspired the family's passion for wine after other mavericks in the region to convert their farm to vine.

They've never looked back and Owen and Wendy Glover, along with son Ben, one of New Zealand's most acclaimed and talented winemakers, now produce award-winning wines from what has become one of the most established single vineyards in the region. The very name "Zephyr" characterises the prevailing wind that complements Marlborough's unique ripening season and Zephyr wines embrace the dynamic spirit of the Glover family and the lively aromatics of the estate vineyards which show in their internationally acclaimed wines.

Ben's passion lies in Marlborough and Pinot Noir, and he is lauded as one of the most talented and respected winemakers in the country, having been Group Winemaker for Accolade New Zealand, sourcing fruit from Waipara, Marlborough and Central Otago. Before that he was chief winemaker and Director of Winemaking for some of New Zealands most well known wine brands including Wither Hills, Lindauer, Huntaway & Corbans.
