Château Treytins, Montagne St-Emilion, Bordeaux, France, 2011

Producer Profile

Château Treytins is perhaps better known for its Lalande de Pomerol wine but since 1998 it has also produced a Montagne St-Emilion the largest of Saint-Emilion's satellite appellations.

Planted on gravelly soil located in part on a hillside, the average age of the vines is about 25 years. This vineyard is planted mostly with Merlot with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Slightly over 5 hectares on soils ranging from sandy-loam to gravel located partially on a hillside. The yields at Château Treytins are limited by Double Guyot pruning as well as bud removal. Leaf removal and crop thinning are carried out too when necessary.

On arrival at the winery the grapes are sorted on a vibrating table. Vinification in temperature controlled in stainless steal vats. Fermentation is followed by a long maceration. The wine is matured for 18 months in air conditioned cellars and is bottled on site.
