Buil y Giné, Spain

For a long time Priorat wines have had a reputation for being unobtainable as they were so expensive.

Xavi Buil, who leads the charge at Buil y Giné, is challenging this perception with his fabulous value wines which are fresher and more appealing in style, with all of the spice, minerality and fruit that are to be expected from this region. Xavi plants on the classic soils of Priorat - slate, shale and liquorella. These are poor soils, restricting vigour and yield, perfect for making powerful and characterful wines.

Viticulture

The classic soils of Priorat - the slate, shale and liquorella - are poor soils for vigour but excellent for restricting yield and production of powerful, characterful wines. The Vines of Buil y Giné are grown on soil of granite with scarce organic material. The vines are cultivated in terraces.
