Our Loire range perfectly demonstrates the breadth of styles and choice from this dynamic region

The 2013 vintage was another difficult and complicated vintage in the Loire valley. A cold spring caused uneven flowering and late summer humidity meant that many suffered problems with rot. In the Loire, however, the weather can never be relied upon and the best growers can combat these tribulations and still produce stunning wines.

The legendary Florent Baumard still heads up our range from the Loire and if your customers deserve a treat then you ought to be offering one of his world famous 'Savvenières' or for a sweet delight his 'Côteaux du Layon'. The beauty of the Loire is the broad palate of styles that it can produce, from the rich dessert wines of Baumard to the crisp Sauvignon Blanc produced at Domaine Patrick Vauvy.

This year we have added a light, fresh Chinon from Domaine de la Noblaie, a fantastic example of a style rapidly gaining popularity. Winemaker Jérôme Billard spent 8 months at Château Petrus white studying oenology in Dijon. After qualifying he was taken on by Dominus estate in Napa for a year before heading to Sacred Hill estate in New Zealand and other world famous estates before returning home to his wife Elodie to take over the family's 12 hectare estate in 2003.

In Nantais, we have introduced a classy Domaine grown Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu Sur Lie, made by Jérôme Choblet of Domaine Herbauges from his 6 ha estate of La Roche Blanche. The 200 ha Côtes de Grandlieu Cru benfits from an exceptional microclimate giving extra ripeness and more fruit to the wines.

Francois Crochet remains at the core of the range in Sancere and these wines continue to progress down an ever more distinctive route as François' own style develops with every vintage.
