Pazo Señorans, Albariño Colección, Rias Baixas, Spain, 2018

Producer Profile
It’s hard to believe Pazo de Señorans have been making wine for a mere 28 years given that they are now considered one of the finest producers in Spain.
Anna, the winemaker, is fastidious in her approach, which could not be more pared back or simple. Having worked with the same growers over many years, there are no secrets to the success, it is all about the quality of the fruit.
Viticulture
Trained on a Pergola system. Manual picking in small 14kg plastic cases. Fruit comes from their own 29 ha of vineyards and around 160 Growers and 500 specially selected micro parcels, each being inspected rigorously and samples regularly taken from each parecl. The use of so many growers adds the complexity to the wine that Pazo Señorans are known for.
Winemaking
Stainless steel fermentation, with five months minimum on the lees and 30 months minimum in bottle.
Oak Ageing
No oak ageing
Tasting Note
Attractive pale yellow colour, a delicate aroma profile. Subtle citrus notes and lovely structure in the mouth.
Food Matching
Pasta, white meat, mushrooms, fish, cheese.

Tim Atkin Rias Baixas Report 2022 94 Points
Colección is deliberately released with some bottle age to counteract the idea that Albariño has to be consumed within a year of release. Serious, textured, layered and unoaked, with subtle nectarine and grapefruit flavours. Understated concentration, a hint of beeswax and a stony, dry finish. Half way towards Selección de Añada in style. 2022-28. 94 Points, TA, July 2022.
