Pazo Señorans, Albariño, Selección de Añada, Rias Baixas, Spain, 2013

Producer Profile
It’s hard to believe Pazo de Señorans have been making wine for a mere 28 years given that they are now considered one of the finest producers in Spain.
Anna, the winemaker, is fastidious in her approach, which could not be more pared back or simple. Having worked with the same growers over many years, there are no secrets to the success, it is all about the quality of the fruit.
Viticulture
This single vineyard wine comes from 4 ha vineyard and vines that are over 45 years old and planted around the Los Bancales region.
Winemaking
The Seleccion Añada is unique for an Albariño in that it is aged on its lees in small steel tanks for up to 36 months or so. This demonstrates above all the ageing potential of Albariño, and Señorans in particular, that we think no other producer can mimic. Aged in stainless steel on its lees for over 30 months.
Oak Ageing
No oak ageing
Tasting Note
Straw yellow with green tints. Intense and very expressive. Immense volume and great body. A wine with great delicacy and goes against the grain in that it is ripe for lengthy storage.
Food Matching

Awards
Guia Peñin 100 Points
Pazo Señorans Selección de Añada 2013 has become the first white wine to be awarded 100 Peñín points in the Guide’s history. Javier Luengo, editor of the Peñín Guide, said: “It was the first real attempt at ageing Galician whites, a risky decision at the time, since the long ageing period is done solely on its own lees in stainless steel tanks, without oak barrels, foudres or cask. In other words, preserving the essence and concentration of Albariño.” 100 Points, JL, July 2023
