Producer Profile

Montezovo wines are produced entirely with grapes from family-owned vines spread over the main Verona appellations: Valpolicella, Garda, Lugana and Lessini.

Each wine is the result of conscious choices made in the vineyard, where the interaction between grape varietal, soil, climate and location are all carefully considered. Most of the vineyards are 550m above sea level, with some beyond 900m – much higher than is usual for the region, but with clear benefits for both the vines and their fruit. The fruits of this incredible terroir are most eloquently expressed in Montezovo’s flagship wines, Calinverno Rosso Veronese and Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG.

Viticulture

The entire estate is farmed organically, with viticulture carried out in full accordance with certified organic standards. The vineyards are also recognised for their commitment to biodiversity, holding certification for meeting ‘biodiversity-friendly’ criteria and supporting a balanced, thriving ecosystem.

Winemaking

Upon arrival at the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20–24 °C and lasts around 10 days. Pumping over, racking and lees management are all carried out in stainless steel to preserve purity and freshness, before bottling. The result is a wine of excellent quality and clarity.

Tasting Note

Bright ruby red in colour, the wine is youthful and fragrant, offering characteristic aromas of small red fruits and spice, complemented by subtle floral and herbaceous notes. The palate is harmonious and well balanced, delivering freshness and elegance throughout.

Food matching

Excellent with both summer dishes, such as pasta and vegetables, white meats, and with more winter combinations, with chestnuts and mushrooms.
