Le Chiantigiane, Loggio del Sole, Vermentino Toscana IGT, Italy, 2024
Producer Profile
Le Chiantigiane is a forward-thinking, quality-orientated co-operative in the heart of Chianti.
Since their inception in 1967, this association of growers has achieved great success both domestically and internationally by pooling its resources and expertise. They produce a range of styles including this authentic Chianti and high quality Chianti Riserva, both of which offer outstanding value.
Viticulture
From vineyards in Tuscany, set in hilly areas rising to 400–600 metres above sea level. The soils are predominantly sandy and enriched with silty veins, lending both texture and natural drainage.
Winemaking
Vermentino IGT is vinified using the white-wine method in stainless steel tanks. The grapes are harvested, destemmed and gently crushed, then pressed at low pressure to obtain a delicate, aromatic free-run must. This is inoculated with selected yeasts and fermented at a controlled temperature, preserving the wine’s fresh, fruity and floral character.
Tasting Note
Light straw yellow with green reflections, gradually tending toward golden yellow with age. An elegant and refined wine, showing a bright straw hue and an intense, persistent aroma of fresh fruit complemented by delicate floral notes. On the palate it is harmonious and well balanced.
Food matching
Excellent as an aperitif, it goes particularly well with white meats, fish soups, shellfish and fresh cheeses.
