Château de Garraud, France

The vineyards of Château Garraud, planted in the mid 19th century, are located on a variety of rich terroirs: gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with “crasse de fer” and clay-sand, high on the Pomerol plateau.

Meticulous work in the vineyards ensures fine expressions of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Purchased by Léon Nony in the 1930's it remains family owned for nearly four generations.

Viticulture

Planted on pure gravel and deep clay the yields at Chateau Garraud are limited by Double Guyot pruning as well as bud removal. Leaf removal and crop thinning are carried out too when necessary. Harvest is by hand.
