Bodegas Gutiérrez Colosia, DO Jerez

Voted one of the top 100 wines to try before you die, the sherries from Colosia are exceptionally great value

Gutiérrez Colosia is one of the few remaining family bodegas in the area and is beautifully positioned on the riverbank at the mouth of the Guadalete River at El Puerto de Santa Maria.

The Bodega, dating back to 1838, remains virtually intact and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Puerto.

The Gutiérrez Colosia family took over the winery at the beginning of the 20th century. Current owner Juan Carlos was originally planning a life outside of winemaking but the sudden death of his father in 1966 propelled him to take the reins at only 20 years old.

Since then, Juan Carlos and his wife Carmen have taken the winery from strength to strength and the results have been outstanding.

The whole range is consistently high quality, individual and authentic - with one being voted in the top 100 wines to taste before you die!

The quality of the Gutiérrez Colosía wines is guaranteed by careful ageing through a process known as "criaderas y soleras" in line with the region's tradition. It is a dynamic system by the so called, "corrimiento de escalas" (or running up the scales) with wines from different crops which guarantees the quality of the sherry wines.
