Producer Profile

Christophe Cordiers estate comprises of 30-odd hectares over a number of village appellations in Mâconnais region, including Mâcon-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint Veran.

He produces balanced wines by harvesting fresh ripe grapes that concentrate naturally due to low yields, and in a distinctive and recognisable house style, which is always concentrated, rich and full as well as balanced. The high-tech winery includes a gravity bottling facility and a raft of high-quality large French oak casks for ageing which are toasted under Christophe’s supervision as well as a cellar built in 2012 in the village of Fuissé completed that house large foudres for fermenting and storing wine, and additional space for 500, 350 and 228 litre barrels.

Viticulture

Crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from the estate's vineyards. The vines are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, with practices such as short pruning, meticulous de-budding, manual thinning of leaves, and hand-picking to ensure the highest quality fruit. The vineyards are worked without tractors, often plowed by horse, to preserve soil life and structure .

Winemaking

The grapes undergo vinification using only indigenous yeasts, with fermentation taking place in neutral barrels and foudres. The wine is aged on its original gross lees for 12 months, followed by 6 months in stainless steel tanks, all done by gravity to minimise oxidation and preserve freshness. The wine is bottled without fining and with minimal filtration, maintaining its purity and expression of terroir
