Producer Profile
Christophe Cordiers estate comprises of 30-odd hectares over a number of village appellations in Mâconnais region, including Mâcon-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint Veran.
He produces balanced wines by harvesting fresh ripe grapes that concentrate naturally due to low yields, and in a distinctive and recognisable house style, which is always concentrated, rich and full as well as balanced. The high-tech winery includes a gravity bottling facility and a raft of high-quality large French oak casks for ageing which are toasted under Christophe’s supervision as well as a cellar built in 2012 in the village of Fuissé completed that house large foudres for fermenting and storing wine, and additional space for 500, 350 and 228 litre barrels.
Viticulture
Christophe Cordier seeks to express emotion in his wines. To accomplish this, he is not afraid to experiment, working alongside his team in the vineyards, bringing motivation, rigour and precision to the tasks. At Cordier they know that great quality wine always starts with outstanding quality grapes! He produces exceptional wines by investing the necessary time and attention and bringing all its know-how to bear: very short pruning, meticulous de-budding, manual thinning out the leaves, respect and preservation of soil life, hand-picking terroir by terroir, etc.
Winemaking
The full bunches undergo a gentle pressing then fermented without decantation using native yeasts.
Tasting Note
Exotic and spicy aromas this is well-balanced, with herbaceous and floral notes. This wine is light, charming and fresh. It seduces with its spontaneity and tenderness.
