Domaine Albert Mann, Pinot Gris, Alsace, France, 2019

Producer Profile
This domaine is an amalgamation of two great winemaking families – the Manns (winemakers since the 17th century) and the Barthelmés (winemakers since 1654) who are the current owners.
Located in Wettolsheim, in the heart of Alsace, the estate is ideally placed to produce wine of the highest quality from vineyards that include some of the regions most iconic crus. Biodynamic since 1997, the work and investment put in by this winery has given its wines their own unique identity.
Viticulture
Thanks to the biodynamic approach it promotes healthy organic soil life and the development of mycorrhizae present on the vine roots. These Juggling ploughing and plant cover, they also manage to bring the roots down deep to capture as much of the minerals as possible from the degradation of the bedrock. Currently, the estate covers 25 hectares divided into about a hundred small cultivation plots.
Tasting Note
This is a wonderful expression of Pinot Gris. A fresh nose of peach and mirabelle plum, with hints of white flowers. The attack is energetic, suave and saline. The palate is elegant and pure, with good acidity. This is a harmonious, dry wine with an easy-to-digest balance.
