Domaine Albert Mann, Riesling Grand Cru, Schlossberg, Alsace, France, 2020

Producer Profile
This domaine is an amalgamation of two great winemaking families – the Manns (winemakers since the 17th century) and the Barthelmés (winemakers since 1654) who are the current owners.
Located in Wettolsheim, in the heart of Alsace, the estate is ideally placed to produce wine of the highest quality from vineyards that include some of the regions most iconic crus. Biodynamic since 1997, the work and investment put in by this winery has given its wines their own unique identity.
Viticulture
Schlossberg was the first vineyard in Alsace to be declared a Grand Cru. The south facing granite hill that the vineyard sits on is cooled by the night time breezes as air is moved through the narrow valley. The stoney soils also make for good drainage.
Winemaking
Fermentation in stainless steel for a few months as well as lees ageing.
Tasting Note
This Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling is refreshing and mouthwatering, offering anise, melon, grapefruit and salinity as well as the typical petrol like aromas. Lovely length and so fresh!
