Domaine Grand Veneur, Côtes du Rhône Rouge, Southern Rhône, France, 2022

Producer Profile
Christophe and Sébastien Jaume have now taken over from their father Alain and have carefully expanded the domaine.
The range is exceptional and equally superb in white as in red. ‘La Fontaine’ is consistently one of the best white Châteauneuf and ‘Les Origines’ delivers the appropriate class for a premium cuvée with many international accolades. There is no weak wine here and the well-priced Côtes du Rhône is produced from a vineyard situated only meters away from the famous Château Beaucastel.
Viticulture
The Côtes du Rhône is made from various type of soils, but it mostly comes from limestone terraces with sand and red clay. This give an extraordinary richness and complexity with a Mediterranean style.
Winemaking
Traditional wine making and ageing is performed in vats only. Bottling is carried out after 10-12 months.
Tasting Note
The wine displays a garnet colour with purple highlights. Its nose offers a vibrant bouquet of fresh wild raspberry, blackcurrant, and blackberry, layered with spicy notes. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, featuring silky tannins and the same expressive fruit flavors. The finish reveals subtle hints of licorice and pepper. This Côtes du Rhône combines complexity with approachability, making it an excellent choice for everyday enjoyment.
