Domaine Moreau-Naudet, Chablis 1er Cru, Montmains, Burgundy, France, 2022

Producer Profile
The Naudet family has been involved in winemaking since the 17th century, but Domaine Moreau-Naudet was established in 1950 following the marriage of Marie Naudet and René Moreau.
Stéphane Moreau took over from his father Roger in 1991 and quickly gained a reputation for producing wines marked by style, finesse, and individuality. His untimely death in August 2016 was a significant loss to the wine world. Stéphane was deeply passionate about crafting authentic, high-quality Chablis from the family’s 22 hectares. His family and the domaine team continue to honor his legacy by maintaining the estate’s dedication to excellence.
Viticulture
One of Chablis' most respected Premier Cru vineyards, located on the left bank of the Serein River. It is particularly known for producing structured, mineral-driven wines with excellent ageing potential. Montmains enjoys a south to southeast-facing slope on predominantly Kimmeridgian limestone.
Winemaking
Fermentation is carried out using only indigenous yeasts, allowing the natural character of the Montmains vineyard to fully emerge. The wine is aged on its fine lees for an extended period (often up to 18 months), which enhances texture and complexity.
Tasting Note
Floral notes dominate the nose alongside some lovely concentrated and powerful citrus and stone fruits, beautiful acidity, and a little exotic on the palate.
Food Matching
Lightly creamy shellfish risotto, roast chicken with tarragon and crème fraîche.
