Producer Profile

The Naudet family has been involved in winemaking since the 17th century, but Domaine Moreau-Naudet was established in 1950 following the marriage of Marie Naudet and René Moreau.

Stéphane Moreau took over from his father Roger in 1991 and quickly gained a reputation for producing wines marked by style, finesse, and individuality. His untimely death in August 2016 was a significant loss to the wine world. Stéphane was deeply passionate about crafting authentic, high-quality Chablis from the family’s 22 hectares. His family and the domaine team continue to honor his legacy by maintaining the estate’s dedication to excellence.

Viticulture

This Chablis lieu-dit is perched on a ridge between the esteemed Premier Cru vineyards of Montmains and Vosgros, sharing the same favourable south-eastern exposure as both Vaillons and Montmains. It’s a privileged site, long appreciated by those who know the area well. Domaine Moreau-Naudet farms a tiny parcel here, planted with vines averaging over 50 years old. With yields typically in the range of 15–25 hl/ha, the resulting wines offer remarkable concentration, purity, and site expression.

Winemaking

30% barrel-élevage for this Cru, but only for complexity and not to impart oak flavours as the barrels are steamed rather than charred and there is no new oak.

Tasting Note

An opulent and texturally-rich Chablis. Layers of pears and citrus as well as juicy green apples and an underlying minerality and crisp acidity.

Food Matching

Grilled shrimp, oysters, and delicate white fish. Salads, particularly those with light dressings or goat cheese, are also excellent choices.
