BRUNO MURCIANO, Spain
He spent his childhood learning and training together with his family in a local restaurant, where he got to know the winegrowers of the area. In his twenty years of international experience as a Sommelier, Bruno has won mentions and awards and achieved recognition from colleagues as an ambassador for Spanish sommeliers worldwide. In 2010 Bruno made one of his big dreams come true and bought a magnificent vineyard in his hometown called “Las Brunas”, 6 hectares of ancient groves with 2 hectares of forest on the Northeast slope. Assisted by Bruno's brother José Luis who honed his skills in Rioja and Bierzo, the pair create incredible wines mostly from Bobal, as well as other autochthonous varieties.
Viticulture
Located in the centre of the Valencia region. Their vineyard distribution is developed in smallholdings, some of them located in the domains of the Hoces del Cabriel nature reserve, currently sheltering the protected DO’s of Utiel-Requena and Valencia. The territory’s winemaking history dates back to the Iberian period, when the deposits of the town of Kelin were located in Caudete de Las Fuentes and the Pilillas de Requena, 3,000 years ago. Influenced by a continental Mediterranean climate, each of the different plots enjoys a specific microclimate that makes it different from the rest. The average altitude of the vineyards is around 950 meters above sea level. Bruno and Jose Luis have searched and selected limestone foothills where prevail the altitude and the south-east orientations with poor sandy-loam and clay-loam soils, looking for freshness in the summer period. These magical enclaves of very old bush-trained vines, cultivated in rainfed, altitude and key exposures, practicing sustainable agriculture and organic viticulture. Following biodynamic guidelines of maximum respect for the nature, they harvest excellent grapes and make unique, honest and high quality wines.
