Château Trigant, Pessac-Léognan, Graves, Bordeaux, France, 2019

Producer Profile
Château Trigant, a charming 18th‑century chartreuse château near Bordeaux, has been under the stewardship of the Sèze family since 1860.
This boutique estate spans approximately 3.6 hectares of deep gravel soils planted equally with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Recently restored and thoughtfully modernised – including updated cellars and the addition of seven guest rooms – Trigant crafts a single, elegantly balanced red that embodies the classic Pessac‑Léognan spirit.
Viticulture
The grapes are grown on a 3.5 hectare plot in Villenave d’Ornon where the average age of the vines is 25 years on sandy-gravel soil with scattered clay veins running through the site.
Winemaking
A temperature-controlled fermentation between 26 and 28°C. Extraction by partial pumping over a délestage (rack and return) and a long maceration of 28 to 30 days.
Tasting Note
This is the essence of Pessac-Léognan. Brilliant dark red in colour. Smooth, full-bodied and concentrated on the palate. The freshness and tension balance out the incredible richness.
Food Matching
Grilled, braised, or stewed beef, duck, pork, veal and game dishes. Also mushrooms and earthy flavours work well.
