Since 1984, our goal has been simple and ambitious: to create a better world of wine.
Today, that means going beyond traditional sustainability and embedding a Positive Impact mindset across every part of our business: from the vineyards we support to the partners we collaborate with and to the way we operate day‑to‑day.
What positive impact means to us
Sustainability is about reducing harm and operating responsibly for the long term. Positive Impact goes further — instead of simply reducing negatives we actively work to create measurable benefits across our supply chain, for people, communities, and the planet. While sustainability minimises negative effects, positive impact delivers meaningful, net gains.
This approach embraces:
- Holistic, long‑term thinking
- Systemic approaches to problem‑solving
- Innovation used responsibly and consciously
Our positive impact strategy
Our Positive Impact Strategy shapes how we think and how we act — grounded in science, guided by purpose, and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is built on a thorough analysis of our business, our people, and our supply chain, shaped by the actions of every department and every producer we work with.
Our strategy stands on four core pillars:
Nature
Initiatives to promote and drive the regeneration of nature
People
Being passionate about our vision for the future of the wine industry
Growth
Innovating products and services to generate positive impact
Partnership
Forming responsible alliances with people who share our vision
How we’re making a positive impact
Carbon Insetting - partnering for regenerative agriculture
We’re working with Deep Planet, AgriTech innovators using AI and satellite imagery to help us go further than carbon offsetting. Together, we explore regenerative farming and carbon insetting practices that improve soil health and strengthen climate resilience in our partner vineyards.
Improving emissions data & carbon management
We have achieved Carbon Reduce Certification (ISO 14064‑1) by measuring and committing to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
Through our collaboration with Zevero, we transformed our carbon accounting:
- Better visibility of emissions across our supply chain
- Improved data quality and consistency
- More accurate Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculations
- Independent verification to ISO 14064‑1
This work forms an essential foundation for our long‑term decarbonisation plan.
Reducing waste & rethinking materials
Working with the Sustainable Restaurant Association, we created and launched a formal Anti‑Waste Policy for our events — significantly reducing the volume of waste generated and setting a new benchmark for how we showcase wine.
Our approach focuses on reducing reliance on single‑use materials and extending the value of technical materials, rather than relying solely on recycling.
Championing sustainable producers
Our portfolio reflects a global network of producers who share our commitment to working with the environment, not against it — from organic viticulture to biodynamic practices and low‑intervention winemaking.
We like to use the expression ‘positive impact’ rather than sustainability… We want to find real solutions to the problems we face in the industry.
Our Positive Impact initiatives
Alliance Wine has introduced a broad range of projects relating to making a positive impact. Some of the initiatives we have launched include:
Carbon reduce certification
Alliance Wine has achieved Carbon Reduce Certification (ISO 14064-1) by measuring and committing to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. We analyse our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and implement a decarbonisation plan. Led by Marta Rivera, we first achieved this certification in August 2023, and have maintained our certification through annual audits and continuous improvement of our carbon management efforts.
