Champagne Fleury, Coteaux Champenois Rouge, Champagne, France, 2019
Viticulture
The wine is crafted exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from vines averaging 50 years of age. Meticulously farmed biodynamically since 1970, the vineyard benefits from a holistic approach that fosters healthy soils and vibrant fruit.
Winemaking
Grapes are hand-harvested to ensure optimal ripeness and careful selection. Fermentation includes a 12-day maceration period, allowing gentle extraction of color, tannins, and aromatic complexity. The wine is then matured for 12 months in oak barrels, imparting subtle structure and nuanced oak character while preserving the varietal’s purity and mineral expression.
Tasting Note
This presents a deep ruby color with a complex nose of red and black berries, violets, spices, and subtle hints of leather and wax. On the palate, it offers a fresh and mineral profile with strong tannins softened by fruity aromas.
Food matching
This wine pairs excellently with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, non-tomato-based pastas, earthy risottos, or farro dishes.
