La Caisse, Rouge, Vin de France, France, 2025
Producer Profile
La Caisse is a pair of charming and delightfully fresh Vin de France wines from Gascony, Southwest France
Created by chief winemaker Frédéric Garrabou, these wines are all wrapped up under a playful label design to appeal to a wide audience of wine lovers.
Viticulture
South West France offers some of the most fascinating and diverse terroirs in the country, combining centuries of tradition with exceptional natural landscapes. This is where authenticity meets character, producing wines that truly reflect their origin.
Winemaking
The winemaking process is carried out in a modern style. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. A portion passes through the modern process of hot maceration, extracting fruity aromas. The other portion goes through traditional fermentation in concrete tanks, with regular pumping to extracting colour and tannins. At the end of the winemaking process, both sections are blended together to make a youthful and easy-drinking wine. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 4 months.
Tasting Note
Deep ruby in colour, this blend offers inviting aromas of ripe red berries, black cherry, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is smooth and generous, with juicy fruit flavours balanced by soft tannins and a touch of peppery warmth. The finish is long and supple, with a whisper of Mediterranean herbs adding complexity.
