LUIS MARIN, Spain

Blessed with an abundance of sunshine, tempered by the strong Cierzo wind that blows through the Ebro Valley cooling the vines and inhabitants alike, the Marin family have deep roots in the Cariñena region.

With a winemaking heritage stretching back centuries and a devotion to Garnacha that has been passed down from generation to generation, they take the abiding view that old vines should be cherished, no matter how low the yield, in the interests of making better wine. It is upon that resolute defiance of convention that their reputation has been built, create wines of incredible value with a varietal character that remains true to their quiet corner of Spain.

Viticulture

The region itself is blessed with an abundance of sunshine hours, whilst the strong Cierzo wind, which blows down through the Ebro Valley moderates temperatures, giving the grapes thicker skins and characteristic concentration of aromas and flavours. The vineyards are around 25 years old and are situated in the regions predominantly stony, limestone soils.

Winemaking

Grapes are gently pressed, followed by a temperature controlled fermentation prior to ageing.
