Bouza do Rei, Lagar de Bouza Albariño, DO Rias Biaxas, Spain, 2024

Producer Profile
Bouza do Rei is one of the best value wineries in Galicia. Working as a small co-operative, five local growers have pooled their resources to make an Albariño that is fuller and rounder in style thanks to the use of more press wine to give depth of flavour.
Viticulture
The vines are grown in vineyards, supported on granite posts made by hewers. This is done in order to separate the stocks from the ground, thus protecting them from humidity and excessive vegetation. Cultivation of the vines in vineyards also favours their exposure to the sun and facilitates wine harvesting tasks and maintenance.
Winemaking
Grapes are picked in the cool early morning and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the floral nuances of the grape variety. The winery has a policy of using minimal intervention to ensure the wine represents it's terroir and reflects a true sense of place.
Tasting Note
Aromas of ripe citrus fruit crushed flowers and underlying minerality give way to a fresh, crisp palate of lemon zest, fresh lime, stone fruits and notes of flint soil.
