Champagne Jean de Villaré, Grande Réserve Brut, Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, France

Producer Profile
Champagne Jean de Villaré is produced by Baron-Fuente in the Vallée de la Marne, where Pinot Meunier is king.
Their Grande Réserve Brut is a blend representative of the region, with a strong Pinot Meunier dominance and much finesse from the 35% Chardonnay in the blend.
Viticulture
This blend showcases the exceptional quality of Pinot Meunier grapes from the Vallée de la Marne, a region renowned for producing some of the finest Pinot Meunier in Champagne. The vineyards are located along the banks of the River Marne in Charly-Sur-Marne.
Winemaking
3 years of bottle ageing.Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place spontaneously in a combination of oak casks, wooden vats, and stainless-steel tanks. This allows for a complex and nuanced wine with both delicate fruit flavours and a touch of oak spice. The wines are left on their natural lees for nearly a year and undergo gentle bâtonnages, but no filtering or fining. Following the blending and the bottling, the bottles are then taken down into the coolness of the cellars, where the second fermentation and the maturation ‘on laths’ takes place quietly until disgorgement.
Tasting Note
The translucent, pale golden colour of the Champagne Jean de Villaré Grande Réserve gives way to initial aromas that are elegant and pure. These are complemented by succulent notes of apple, peach and apricot. In the mouth, this very well-balanced champagne is complex and round. The mouth is supple and well balanced. Unctuous with a good length in the mouth
