Château La Rose Trimoulet, St Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France, 2020
Producer Profile
Château La Rose Trimoulet is a family-owned Saint-Émilion Grand Cru property situated on the limestone and clay slopes surrounding Saint-Émilion.
Managed by Jean-Claude Brisson, the estate focuses on producing approachable, terroir-driven wines that express the character of this prestigious Right Bank appellation. With a relatively small vineyard and careful attention to quality, Château La Rose Trimoulet crafts classic Saint-Émilion wines that balance ripe fruit, structure and elegance.
Viticulture
The 3.5-hectare vineyard is planted on limestone-clay and sandy-clay soils with vines averaging 40 years of age. The vineyard is HVE (High Environmental Value) certified and managed with a strong focus on environmental stewardship, including soil cultivation and mechanical weed control. Plantings comprise 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc at densities of 6,600–9,000 vines per hectare.
Winemaking
Grapes were harvested in late September and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Vinification includes a cold pre-fermentation maceration, punch-downs during fermentation and a warm post-fermentation maceration to enhance extraction and complexity. The wine is then matured entirely in oak barrels before bottling.
Tasting Note
A richly flavoured Saint-Émilion with aromas of ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry, complemented by subtle spice and vanilla from oak ageing. The palate is concentrated yet elegant, with supple tannins, good freshness and a long, harmonious finish.
