Viticulture

Monthelie, a charming village of just 198 residents, is nestled between Volnay and Meursault, perched near the summit before the Auxey-Duresses fault. Known as one of the most picturesque spots on the Côte d’Or, Monthelie is built on a hillside, with narrow streets winding upward toward the mountain. The vineyards stretch between Volnay—continuing its eastern slopes—and Auxey-Duresses to the west, overlooking Meursault and the Auxey valley, covering a total of 180 hectares. While Monthelie is predominantly known for its red wines, white wines make up less than 5% of the plantings, offering a rare and distinctive expression of the terroir for lovers of white Burgundy. This wine comes from a young plot, Sous le Cellier. This young plot is located at the exit of Monthelie towards Nantoux, facing due west, it benefits from very sunny afternoons. Located on a steeply sloping ground with minor silt debris, it gives character to its white wines.
