CLOS ROUGEARD, France

Not far from the village of Saumur is an estate on the land of Chacé.

Eight generations have succeeded each other running this estate, with the most recent, the Foucault brothers, Charly and Nady adopting a singular philosophy to enhance the terroirs of Saumur and Saumur-Champigny since their inception in the 1980's of "leave the wine in peace so it can expresses its own identity". Purchased by the Bouygues family on 2017, they continue the work begun by their predecessors with a deep respect for the heritage that has gone before them.

Viticulture

The 15 hectare vineyard covers 25 unique plots that are mainly clay and limestone soils. Amongst the fauna and flora of this incredible terroir, grapes have been grown organically for almost eight generations.

Winemaking

No synthetic products are added to the vines, gentle vinification process are meticulously planned like infusions as well as taking a minimalist approach. Each cuvée carefully crafted to capture each appellation and show it at its best.
