Royal Oporto is the flagship Port wine brand of Real Companhia Velha, one of Portugal’s most historic wine companies.

The brand name originated from the way English wine merchants traditionally referred to Real Companhia Velha as the “Royal Oporto Wine Company”, acknowledging the Royal Charter that established the company, its connection to the city of Oporto, and the ease with which the name could be pronounced internationally. Today, Royal Oporto represents the company’s presence on the global stage, showcasing a range of premium Port wines that reflect centuries of winemaking heritage and expertise.

Viticulture

Made from traditional Douro varieties grown on old vineyards rooted in schist soils. The low-yielding vines contribute concentration and complexity essential for long cask ageing.

Winemaking

Produced using the traditional Port method, with controlled fermentation, skin maceration and fortification. Individual lots are aged separately before master blending creates the final 10 Year Old expression. Patiently matured in old oak casks for an average of 10 years, developing notes of vanilla, nuts, spice and dried fruit.

Tasting Note

Tawny-gold with aromas of dried fruits, spice, vanilla and toasted nuts. The palate is mellow and harmonious, showing flavours of fig, caramel, fruit cake and gentle oak spice, balanced by fresh acidity.
