Domaine Grand Veneur, Côtes du Rhône Blanc, Southern Rhône, France, 2022

Producer Profile
Christophe and Sébastien Jaume have now taken over from their father Alain and have carefully expanded the domaine.
The range is exceptional and equally superb in white as in red. ‘La Fontaine’ is consistently one of the best white Châteauneuf and ‘Les Origines’ delivers the appropriate class for a premium cuvée with many international accolades. There is no weak wine here and the well-priced Côtes du Rhône is produced from a vineyard situated only meters away from the famous Château Beaucastel.
Viticulture
The wine is crafted from a blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier and Clairette grown on clay–limestone plateaux with cool sandy soils. The vineyards are certified organic and managed sustainably to preserve vine health.
Winemaking
Grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature‑controlled stainless-steel vats following direct pressing. The wine is bottled early, approximately six months after harvest, to retain freshness and primary fruit character.
Tasting Note
Pale yellow with golden highlights and opens with floral aromas and ripe white-peach and pear. On the palate, it is vibrant and fresh, showing stone-fruit characters (almond, white peach), a slight liveliness on the finish, and a crisp, mineral-driven balance.
Food Matching
Shellfish, grilled fish, light salads and white meats. Its crisp acidity and fruity character also complement soft cheeses and fruit-based desserts.
