Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, Nuits-St-Georges, Burgundy, France, 2020

Producer Profile
Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is a distinguished family-run winery located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits.
Established in 1964 through the union of the Confuron and Cotetidot families—both with deep-rooted viticultural traditions dating back to the 17th century—the estate now spans approximately 11 hectares of esteemed vineyards, including Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and Village appellations
Viticulture
The estate adheres to organic principles, avoiding synthetic herbicides and pesticides. They prioritize soil health through practices like ploughing and manual weed control, fostering a biodiverse vineyard ecosystem. Low yields, the winery employs massale selection, a traditional method of propagating vines using cuttings from the best-performing plants, which helps maintain genetic diversity and resilience in the vineyard.
Winemaking
Fermenting grapes with stems intact, post-fermentation, the wines undergo extended maceration periods of 2 to 3 weeks, followed by aging in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
Tasting Note
A deep ruby hue, indicative of its concentration. On the nose, it offers a harmonious blend of ripe red and black fruits—cherry, blackcurrant, and raspberry—complemented by subtle earthy undertones, hints of leather, and a whisper of oak. As the wine opens, nuanced layers of spice, including clove and black pepper, emerge, enhancing its aromatic complexity.
Food Matching
Excellent with red meat, game, roast duck, lamb chops and matured cheeses.
