Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, Vignes Rondes, Burgundy, France, 2020

Producer Profile
Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is a distinguished family-run winery located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits.
Established in 1964 through the union of the Confuron and Cotetidot families—both with deep-rooted viticultural traditions dating back to the 17th century—the estate now spans approximately 11 hectares of esteemed vineyards, including Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and Village appellations
Viticulture
A distinguished .75 hectare plot within the Premier Cru vineyard located in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits. This vineyard is a mix of clay and Comblanchien limestone, contributing to the wine's depth and minerality.
Winemaking
100% whole-bunch fermentation, enhancing structure and aromatic complexity. The wine undergoes extended barrel aging, typically between 18 to 24 months, in French oak barrels with a modest proportion of new oak.
Tasting Note
Deep ruby with a slight purple hue when young; garnet edges developing with age. Intensely aromatic, with layers of black cherry, raspberry liqueur, and wild strawberry. Evolving notes of violet, rose petal, and underbrush emerge alongside spice, dried herbs, and subtle stemmy freshness from whole-cluster fermentation. As it ages, expect deeper tones of leather, mushroom, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, structured, and firmly tannic in youth. The core shows vibrant, dark red fruit supported by earthy minerality and fresh acidity.
Food Matching
Beef wellington, braised short ribs, venison, wild boar, or rabbit in wine-based sauces.
