DOMAINE CONFURON-COTETIDOT, France

Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is a distinguished family-run winery located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits.

Established in 1964 through the union of the Confuron and Cotetidot families—both with deep-rooted viticultural traditions dating back to the 17th century—the estate now spans approximately 11 hectares of esteemed vineyards, including Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and Village appellations

Viticulture

Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot practices organic viticulture, abstaining from synthetic herbicides and pesticides. They favour traditional vineyard management techniques, including regular plowing and short pruning, to maintain low yields between 35-45 hl/ha. This approach not only respects the environment but also enhances the expression of terroir in their wines .

Winemaking

Under the stewardship of brothers Yves and Jean-Pierre Confuron, the domaine upholds a steadfast commitment to traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques. Notably, they employ 100% whole-cluster fermentation, a practice necessitated by their choice not to use a destemmer. This method requires harvesting grapes at optimal ripeness to ensure lignified stems, contributing to the wine's structure and complexity. The wines undergo extended maceration periods of 2 to 3 weeks and are aged in barrels—predominantly second and third fill—for up to 24 months. Importantly, the wines are bottled without fining or filtration, preserving their authentic character.
