Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru, Burgundy, France, 2020

Producer Profile
Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is a distinguished family-run winery located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits.
Established in 1964 through the union of the Confuron and Cotetidot families—both with deep-rooted viticultural traditions dating back to the 17th century—the estate now spans approximately 11 hectares of esteemed vineyards, including Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and Village appellations
Viticulture
Mazis-Chambertin is situated on the same slope as Chambertin, with two distinct areas: Les Mazis-Bas (lower, deeper soil) and Les Mazis-Hauts (higher, shallower soil, producing livelier wines). The name is thought to come from small houses ("mazis") that once existed on the land.
Tasting Note
Mazis-Chambertin wines are known for their vibrant colour (deep ruby to black cherry), aromas of red fruit (strawberry, blackcurrant, gooseberry), liquorice, and spices. You can also find violet, moss, and underbrush. On the palate, this is full-bodied, powerful, and elegant, with firm tannins and a long finish.
