Producer Profile

Situated in Pernand-Vergelesses, between the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, Domaine Rapet produces exceptional wines from vineyards surrounding the prestigious hill of Corton.

Founded in 1765, this historic family estate is now led by Vincent, who crafts wines in a modern style that are both well-vinified and true to their terroir. These wines benefit from a few years of cellaring, and the various cuvées remain attractively priced. In short, Domaine Rapet is a dependable source for both red and white Burgundy wines.

Viticulture

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, the Pernand-Vergelesses vineyard is nestled in the greenery of a peaceful valley and originates at the foot of the Corton hill. Facing east, this vineyard site lies along the road from Beaune to Pernand. Gently sloping terrain is stabilised by limestone terraces, while the iron-rich clay soils give the earth its distinctive red hue. It is here that the supple, fruit-forward red wines of the Côte de Beaune find their origin.

Winemaking

The aim is to produce a rich, fruit-driven wine with supple tannins, made possible by harvesting fully ripe grapes. The fruit is carefully transported in small boxes to preserve quality, then meticulously sorted at the winery. A conveyor belt gently fills the vats, ensuring minimal damage to the grapes. Fermentation lasts around 15 days with regular punch-downs, allowing the wine to extract both richness and colour from the skins before pressing. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Racking is done using a bellows system, eliminating the need for pumps and reducing handling. Every step in the process is designed to preserve the full character and integrity of the grapes.

Tasting Note

Red fruit notes, including raspberries, strawberries, and cherries, along with subtle floral hints of violet and rose petal. The wine has earthy notes, along with a hint of spice or vanilla. Tannins are well-integrated, providing a balanced and juicy texture.

Food Matching

It goes well with beef fillet, sautéed veal, lacquered lamb shoulder, rooster-style duck fricassee or a beautiful cheese platter.
