Viticulture

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Combe d'Orveau lies at the edge of the Grand Cru vineyard Musigny, near the border with Flagey-Échezeaux. Its terroir is shaped by a cool, sheltered valley (the "combe") that funnels cold air down from the hills, contributing to a longer ripening period and refined aromatics. The soils are thin and stony over limestone bedrock, promoting excellent drainage and imparting minerality and finesse. The combination of altitude, exposure, and soil composition gives wines from Combe d’Orveau their hallmark elegance, floral aromatics, and silky texture, often drawing comparisons to Grand Cru-level complexity and poise.

Tasting Note

This wine reveals deep layers of ripe dark fruit wrapped in supple, silky tannins. The bouquet is captivating, with notes of dark cherries and violets accented by subtle hints of spice. Its terroir shines through in the refreshing thread of minerality that runs beneath the wine’s impressive depth and length. Striking a perfect balance between richness and elegance, it leaves a lasting impression with its graceful, lingering finish.

Food Matching

Duck breast with a cherry reduction, roast lamb with herbs, or beef tenderloin in a red wine jus. It also complements earthy mushroom dishes, truffle risotto, and aged cheeses like Époisses or Comté.
