Domaine Vacheron, Sancerre Blanc, Le Paradis, Loire, France, 2020

Producer Profile
Domaine Vacheron is a prestigious family-run estate located in Sancerre, with a history dating back to 1898.
Renowned for crafting some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire Valley, the domaine combines tradition with modern precision to express the unique terroir of Sancerre. Today, it is led by fourth-generation winemaker Franck Vacheron, who continues to uphold the estate’s commitment to quality and elegance.
Viticulture
The terroir of Sancerre Le Paradis is characterised by its unique combination of flinty (silex) and limestone-rich soils, which are well-drained and impart a distinct mineral backbone to the wines. Situated on gentle slopes with excellent sun exposure, the vineyard benefits from a cool continental climate that preserves the vibrant acidity and freshness of the grapes. This terroir lends wines from Le Paradis a signature tension and purity, marked by crisp citrus and stone fruit flavours, alongside a pronounced flinty smokiness that reflects the region’s famed silex influence.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with natural yeasts to highlight the terroir. The wine then ages for 12 months in old oak foudres, which gently develop complexity and texture while preserving its fresh, pure fruit character.
Tasting Note
Bright and expressive, this wine reveals vibrant aromas of citrus zest, green apple, and white flowers, underscored by a distinctive flinty minerality. On the palate, it is crisp and lively with focused acidity, delivering flavors of ripe pear, lemon, and subtle hints of wet stone. The finish is long and refreshing, marked by elegant tension and a touch of saline complexity.
Food Matching
Complements summer vegetable salads and delicate white fish with lemon or herb sauces.
