Domaine Vacheron, Sancerre Blanc, Les Romains, Loire, France, 2021

Producer Profile
Domaine Vacheron is a prestigious family-run estate located in Sancerre, with a history dating back to 1898.
Renowned for crafting some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire Valley, the domaine combines tradition with modern precision to express the unique terroir of Sancerre. Today, it is led by fourth-generation winemaker Franck Vacheron, who continues to uphold the estate’s commitment to quality and elegance.
Viticulture
Sourced from a single vineyard of biodynamically farmed Sauvignon Blanc from Silex soils, this wine reflects a deep commitment to holistic viticulture. The estate has been certified biodynamic since 2005, underscoring their long-standing dedication to sustainable and environmentally respectful practices.
Winemaking
Harvesting is done entirely by hand. Domaine Vacheron follows a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the natural qualities of the grapes and their terroir to shine through. Fermentation takes place using native yeasts, in a mix of stainless steel or cement tanks and traditional open-top wooden fermenters.
Tasting Note
Bright aromas of ripe white peach are layered with floral hints of hawthorn and acacia, underpinned by a subtle flinty minerality. On the palate, concentrated gooseberry flavours unfold alongside a refined smokiness and a crisp, dry structure. The wine finishes with elegant length, carried by a lingering saline edge and a precise mineral core.
Food Matching
Grilled or poached white fish, such as cod, halibut, or turbot, with a lemon-butter or herb sauce.
