Producer Profile

The Domaine Bonnigal-Bodet is located in Limeray (Amboise), in the heart of the Loire Valley.

Having been handed down from father to son since 1927, the estate is now run by the 4th generation and long-time best friends’ Jean Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet, who took over together in 2015. The vineyards themselves are stretched across a large range of terroirs, with a multitude of local grape varities, including Chenin Blanc, Côt, Sauvignon Blanc and Pineau d'Aunis.

Viticulture

The vineyards span a diverse range of terroirs and are home to a variety of local grape varieties, including Chenin Blanc, Côt, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pineau d'Aunis. Applying organic and biodynamic methods, Jean-Baptiste and Stéphane draw on their winemaking experience from New Zealand and Bordeaux to craft wines marked by precision and purity. Their dedication to sustainable viticulture and the expression of terroir is evident in their Touraine Blanc, produced from carefully selected vineyards within the Amboise appellation. Vineyard practices focus on organic and biodynamic principles, minimising chemical inputs and encouraging biodiversity.

Winemaking

Malolactic fermentation is carefully managed in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts, enhancing the wine’s complexity, texture, and the purity of its fresh fruit flavours. The wine is then aged on its lees in stainless steel, allowing further development of character and depth. Bottling takes place without filtration or fining, preserving the wine’s natural integrity.

Tasting Note

Expressive and fresh, bursting with aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, gooseberry, and delicate white flowers, along with hints of fresh-cut grass and a touch of flint-like minerality. On the palate, it is crisp and lively, with vibrant acidity balanced by juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavours, finishing clean and refreshing with a mineral-driven aftertaste.
