Domaine Bonnigal-Bodet, Touraine Blanc, Amboise, Limeray, Touraine, Loire, France, 2023

Producer Profile
The Domaine Bonnigal-Bodet is located in Limeray (Amboise), in the heart of the Loire Valley.
Having been handed down from father to son since 1927, the estate is now run by the 4th generation and long-time best friends’ Jean Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet, who took over together in 2015. The vineyards themselves are stretched across a large range of terroirs, with a multitude of local grape varities, including Chenin Blanc, Côt, Sauvignon Blanc and Pineau d'Aunis.
Viticulture
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from sustainably farmed vineyards in the Touraine appellation, planted on limestone and clay soils which contribute to the wine’s freshness and minerality. Domaine Bonnigal Bodet employs organic or low-intervention viticulture practices, including hand harvesting and careful canopy management to ensure optimal ripeness and aromatic purity.
Winemaking
Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts, with strict temperature control to preserve the aromatic freshness and vibrant acidity of the grape. The wine undergoes no oak aging, emphasising purity and clean fruit expression. Lees contact is minimal, aimed at enhancing texture without compromising freshness .
Tasting Note
Expressive and fresh, bursting with aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, gooseberry, and delicate white flowers, along with hints of fresh-cut grass and a touch of flint-like minerality. On the palate, it is crisp and lively, with vibrant acidity balanced by juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavours, finishing clean and refreshing with a mineral-driven aftertaste.
