Domaine Darviot-Perrin was established in 1989 by Didier Darviot and Geneviève Perrin, merging the estates of Pierre Perrin-Ponsot and Henri-Jean Darviot.

Geneviève's father, Pierre Perrin, was a renowned figure in Meursault and Volnay winemaking circles. The domaine spans 11 hectares across prestigious Burgundy communes, including Meursault, Volnay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Monthelie, Pommard, and Beaune. In 2019, Didier's son, Pierre-Antonin Darviot, took over the winemaking duties after a distinguished career in the French Foreign Office. He is the 10th generation of the family to lead the estate and has since transitioned the domaine to certified organic farming, with certification achieved in 2022

Viticulture

The Clos de la Velle vineyard is a monopole of the Darviot family, encompassing 0.56 hectares located on the upper part of the "Sous la Velle" terroir, adjacent to Château de la Velle. The vines, with an average age of 60 to 70 years, benefit from rich, deep soils resting on a stony base, ensuring optimal water drainage and contributing to the wine's complexity.

Winemaking

The grapes undergo a gentle pressing, followed by fermentation in barrels, with a portion of new oak used to impart subtle complexity. The wine is aged in oak barrels for a period, allowing it to develop its characteristic richness and depth. The use of gravity during winemaking minimizes the need for pumps, preserving the wine's integrity and enhancing its expression of the terroir.

Tasting Note

The bouquet reveals delicate mineral aromas complemented by citrus notes, characteristic of its youth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, offering a generous roundness and a fine tension on the finish. This wine showcases the distinctive character of the Clos de la Velle terroir, reflecting both its rich history and the expertise of the Darviot family.
