Producer Profile

Domaine Darviot-Perrin was established in 1989 by Didier Darviot and Geneviève Perrin, merging the estates of Pierre Perrin-Ponsot and Henri-Jean Darviot.

Geneviève's father, Pierre Perrin, was a renowned figure in Meursault and Volnay winemaking circles. The domaine spans 11 hectares across prestigious Burgundy communes, including Meursault, Volnay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Monthelie, Pommard, and Beaune. In 2019, Didier's son, Pierre-Antonin Darviot, took over the winemaking duties after a distinguished career in the French Foreign Office. He is the 10th generation of the family to lead the estate and has since transitioned the domaine to certified organic farming, with certification achieved in 2022

Viticulture

The "Les Santenots" vineyard is situated in the upper part of the Santenots climat, just below the "Les Cras" appellation, on a gentle east-facing slope in the commune of Meursault. The vines, averaging 50 years in age, are planted on clay-limestone soils, contributing to the wine's complexity and depth.

Winemaking

The grapes undergo nearly 100% destemming, followed by a cold maceration lasting 5–6 days. Fermentation occurs with gentle extraction techniques, maintaining low temperatures to preserve the fruit's purity. The wine is aged for 18 months in 25% new Nevers oak barrels on the fine lees, without racking, fining, or filtration, allowing for a natural development of flavors

Tasting Note

An expressive bouquet of red and black berries, notably cherry and raspberry, complemented by subtle earthy and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a silky texture, showcasing balanced acidity and finely integrated tannins. The finish is long and elegant, reflecting the wine's finesse and the distinctive character of the Santenots terroir.

Food Matching

Wild game like venison or pheasant, rich fish dishes such as salmon or tuna.
