Producer Profile

Since taking over from her father Marc in 2003, Alexandrine Roy has become the fourth generation of the Roy family to cultivate vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin and Marsannay.

Her domaine is exceptionally small—just four hectares—but it is tended with the care and precision of a cherished garden. Though her holdings are limited to "village" appellations, the wines consistently defy expectations, showing a finesse, depth, and complexity more commonly associated with premier or grand cru sites. Alexandrine's winemaking philosophy is grounded in minimal intervention and gentle extraction, allowing the natural character of her ancient vines to shine. The resulting wines are remarkable for their purity, elegance, and supple, silky texture—qualities that have earned her international recognition and admiration. Each vintage reveals a transparent expression of site, crafted with sensitivity and a deep respect for tradition.

Viticulture

Vines for La Justice are over 50 years old and is located just behind the estate in the large alluvial fan from the Combe de Lavaut. Each vine is treated with meticulous care and only the most exceptional vines make the cut for this cuvée. The grapes used are predominantly “millerandées”—naturally small berries that offer greater concentration and intensity.

Winemaking

Following hand-harvesting, traditional methods are employed to gently extract the purest expression of Gevrey-Chambertin’s distinctive terroir. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, with around 50% new oak, striking a careful balance between structure and elegance.

Tasting Note

This is incredibly expressive with notes of black berried fruits, cinnamon spice and earthyness. Plenty of body, with lovely concentrated fruit notes on the palate and finish. Fine grained tannins help balance this wine beautifully.
