Producer Profile

Domaine Patrick Javillier is a thriving domaine under the stewardship of Marion and Pierre- Emmanuel, maintaining the disciplined, terroir-forward legacy instilled by Patrick.

They are an ever-growing presence at Premier and Grand Cru levels, ensuring the domaine remains a key benchmark for Burgundy white wine, combining generosity, finesse and authenticity. Founded in Meursault post-World War II by Raymond Javillier and taken over in 1974 by his son, Patrick, following his studies in oenology, Patrick expanded the estate from 2ha to around 11ha across the Côte de Beaune, building a reputation for high-quality whites. Since 2008 Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy has led the white winemaking and viticulture, while Marion Javillier oversees Pinot Noir production. Known for classic, elegant, terroir-driven wines that offer both early enjoyment and cellar ageability, they are considered to be among Meursault’s most consistent and high-quality producers, while also offering good value at entry level. Neal Martin of Wine Advocate praised these budget wines, while Jancis Robinson included Patrick’s name as a ‘first look’ for each vintage.

Viticulture

From several Bourgogne Côte d’Or vineyards located on the southern side of the Côte de Beaune where the terroirs are mainly clay.

Winemaking

Matured in oak casks, the number of new casks depending on the plot concerned; during the winemaking process the lees may be stirred according to the nature of the vintage. After 16 to 18 months in cask, the wines are bottled by the domain with a minimum of fining and filtration.

Tasting Note

This is powerful and very expressive whilst maintaining elegance, with lychee, lemon and succulent floral notes as well as a hint of toast. Fleshy and vigorous but well balanced, plenty of body and mouthwatering acidity.

Food Matching

A well aged comté, lobster thermidor, or a roasted chicken with mushrooms and a cream sauce.
