Laurent Tribut, Chablis, Burgundy, France, 2021

Producer Profile
Laurent Tribut's journey into winemaking began when he married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, daughter of the esteemed Chablis producer René Dauvissat.
He spent over a decade learning from his father- and brother-in-law before founding his own estate in Poinchy in 1987, working vineyards gifted by the Dauvissat family near their premier crus. Initially producing wines in the Dauvissat cellars, Laurent later moved operations to Poinchy, continuing to craft wines true to Chablis terroir. In 2019, he retired, passing management to his three children, with Solange leading winemaking. Laurent remains involved, ensuring the estate’s wines retain their signature balance, minerality, and elegance.
Viticulture
Produced from 5.2 hectares of carefully tended vineyards, this wine captures the unique terroir of the region. Domaine Laurent Tribut is known for its commitment to purity and intensity, employing traditional winemaking techniques. Yields are severely restricted. The vineyards are meticulously tended, and yields are carefully controlled to ensure optimal grape quality. The focus is to produce a classic expression of Chablis.
Winemaking
Gentle pressing of the grapes is carried out, followed by spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, allowing the terroir to express itself authentically. The wine undergoes élevage on its lees for approximately 6 to 12 months in stainless-steel tanks. This lees ageing enhances the wine's texture and complexity, while the use of stainless-steel ensures preservation of the wine's fresh, mineral-driven profile, and avoids heavy oak influence.
Tasting Note
This presents a lively acidity balanced by a chalky mouthfeel, embodying the classic minerality of Chablis. This expression of Chablis beautifully showcases the signature mineral finish, making it an excellent choice for those eager to explore the nuances of this celebrated wine region. Vibrant and refreshing, this wine offers lively aromas of orange zest, Golden Delicious apple, and subtle nutty notes. It is remarkably precise, with a well-balanced palate featuring a bright, crisp acidity. The mid-palate reveals gentle spiciness, leading to a smooth, rich finish that beautifully preserves the expression of its terroir.
