Quintas do Homem is one of those estates that immediately captivates you with its charm, passion and dynamism.
Nuno and his father, Antonio, work the two vineyards, Quinta do Veiga and Quinta do Paço, growing predominately Loureiro and Arinto, while Nuno’s mother prepares delicious traditional Portuguese dishes for visitor, Meanwhile Ana, their long-term winemaker and adopted member of the family, is a fierce taskmaster, demanding the quality fruit that will enable her to deliver the pure, fine and elegant Vinho Verdes that Nuno expects.
Viticulture
The 'Integrated Production' system defined by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated (IOBC) as a system for producing high quality wine, which are based on sustainability principles, the application of natural resources, the use of regulatory mechanisms to replace fertilisers, using appropriate tools and procedures for monitoring traceability of all processes, making it economically viable, environmentally sound and socially just!
Winemaking
Fermentation is carried out at 24º c, for 10-12 days in stainless still vats, with a process called Curtimenta which involves the fermentation with the skins and the pulp.
Tasting Note
Produced exclusively from the grape variety Vinhão, created with the traditional methods, allowing it to keep all its characteristics, aromas and flavours. It is a full-bodied wine with very well-balanced acidity.
