Producer Profile

Albert Bichot brings to Alliance a comprehensive Burgundy portfolio spanning Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune, the Mâconnais and Beaujolais.

With nearly 100 appellations produced across Burgundy and Beaujolais, the House offers exceptional breadth and expertise across the region. Founded in 1831, Albert Bichot is an independent, family-owned House now managed by the sixth generation, Albéric Bichot. Since then, they have consistently developed a unique position in Burgundy, combining the expertise of a historic négociant with the authenticity of its own vineyard holdings. At the heart of the Albert Bichot portfolio are its own vineyard estates, four of which are represented by Alliance and each with its own identity and terroir: Domaine Long-Depaquit one of Chablis' leading estates – 52 Ha. Domaine du Clos Frantin exceptional vineyard holdings in the Côte de Nuits – 13 Ha. Château-Gris a boutique, elegant expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits – 3 Ha. Domaine du Pavillon prestigious Côte de Beaune vineyards – 19 Ha. Across all four estates, the philosophy remains consistent: careful vineyard management, organic and sustainable viticulture, low intervention and precise winemaking designed to express the individual character of each site.

Viticulture

The Les Charmes vineyard is situated on a renowned 506-acre limestone plateau at the heart of the Mâcon-Lugny appellation in southern Burgundy. Benefiting from a south to south-eastern exposure, the Chardonnay vines enjoy optimal sunshine throughout the growing season. The vineyard's marl-based soils, containing sandstone clay over limestone subsoils, contribute both freshness and depth to the finished wine.

Winemaking

Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine is matured on its fine lees to develop additional texture, complexity and aromatic richness. The winemaking approach balances freshness with generosity, allowing the expressive fruit character of the Chardonnay to remain at the forefront while gaining extra depth and structure during ageing. Aged for 8 to 9 months on fine lees, with 80% matured in stainless steel vats and 20% in oak barrels. This restrained use of oak brings subtle complexity and texture while preserving the wine's bright fruit profile and freshness.

Tasting Note

Fresh and inviting, this Mâcon-Lugny offers expressive aromas of peach, apricot and citrus fruits. The palate is generous and well-rounded, combining ripe stone fruit flavours with vibrant freshness and impressive length. Approachable yet refined, it delivers excellent balance and easy-drinking appeal.

Food matching

Delicious with grilled sea bass, lemon-roast chicken, garlic prawns and creamy mushroom tartlets.
