Producer Profile

Chateau de L’Escarelle is one of the most prestigious wine estates in the heart of Provence, with 100 hectares of organically certified vineyards set in 1,000 hectares of beautiful woodland.

Recently, this property has made impressive steps to establish itself as a major player in sustainable agriculture in France. In 2016 the estate achieved Haute Valeur Environnementale certification (France’s most stringent environmental certification scheme, level 3), demonstrating its deep-rooted commitment to protecting the natural world. Their vines are planted at up to 500 metres above sea level, hugging the slopes of the Montagne de La Loube and adapting to the estates' clay and limestone soil profile. The terroir’s distinctive character is perfect for creating highly expressive, elegant Rosé wines.

Viticulture

The vineyards sit at elevations up to 500 metres, benefiting from clay‑limestone soils and the moderating influence of the local climate, which helps produce fresh, expressive wines. The estate follows sustainable and environmentally responsible viticultural practices, holding High Environmental Value (HVE3) certification and prioritising biodiversity through minimal chemical use and careful land stewardship.

Winemaking

The grapes are mechanically harvested in the early hours of the morning to ensure an attractively pale colour. Vinification follows traditional methods in stainless steel vats with a brief period of skin maceration, while fermentation is carefully temperature-controlled. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the wine’s full freshness and vibrant fruity aromas.

Tasting Note

Palm Blanc is exceptionally inviting white from Provence. Crystalline clarity and the subtlest of yellow tones, the nose reveals delicate apricot and citrus fruits with white blossom. White-fleshed fruits follow onto the palate, married with more crisp and refreshing green apple and citrus. The impression is of energy, with clean, crisp acidity and a mineral backbone that supports every sip. Well-balanced and with a lingering finish, this wine shows the classic elegance of high altitude plantings in Provence and offers great versatility.
